Why it matters
Structured data tells search engines exactly what a page is about: the business's address and opening hours, an event's date, a product's price. It's how sites qualify for rich results such as product prices and event listings in Google, and it helps AI assistants answer questions about you correctly.
JSON-LD is the format Google recommends, but it's easy to get a field name or date format wrong. This generator writes it for you and checks it against Google's published requirements, flagging what's missing before you publish.
How to use it
- Choose the type of page.
- Fill in the fields. Required ones are marked; the checks update as you type.
- Fix anything flagged in red, and add the recommended fields where you can.
- Paste the script tag into the page, then test it with Google's Rich Results Test.
FAQ
Will this get me rich results?
It makes the page eligible, but Google decides when to show them. Since 2023, FAQ rich results only appear for well-known government and health sites, though the markup still helps search engines and assistants understand the page.
Where do I put the code?
Anywhere in the page's HTML, usually the <head>. It doesn't change what visitors see.
Can I add more than one type?
Yes. Add a separate script tag for each, or combine them in an @graph array.
Can I add reviews and ratings?
Only real ones shown on the page. Marking up ratings you've written yourself breaks Google's guidelines, and fake reviews are illegal in the UK.
