Who I am
leej.uk is the personal website of Lee Johnson, an independent app and web developer based in England, UK. I'm the data controller for this site. You can reach me at hello@leej.uk. No Data Protection Officer is appointed, as this small-scale processing doesn't require one.
The short version
This site sets no cookies, has no adverts and no third-party trackers. I don't sell or share your data. The only personal data I hold is what you choose to send me through the contact form or by email, and I keep enquiries for 12 months at most.
If you use the contact form
When you send an enquiry through the contact form, I store your name, email address, what the enquiry is about, the optional company or website, budget and timeline you choose, your message, the date and time, and any replies I send you. I use them only to read and answer your enquiry, and to keep a record of our conversation.
The lawful basis is taking steps at your request before a possible contract (Article 6(1)(b) UK GDPR) or my legitimate interest in answering enquiries (Article 6(1)(f)).
Where it's kept: in a private database on Cloudflare (D1) that only I can open, behind a sign-in. Your IP address is not stored: the site keeps only a salted one-way hash of it, used to limit repeated submissions and to spot spam.
Spam protection: the form uses Cloudflare Turnstile, which checks that a real person is sending the form. Cloudflare processes technical data about your browser for this check only; see its Turnstile privacy addendum.
How long: enquiries and replies are deleted automatically 12 months after they arrive, and messages marked as spam after 30 days. Ask me and I'll delete yours sooner.
Email: my replies and a short new-enquiry alert to me are sent by an email delivery service acting for me (Cloudflare Email Service or Resend); they process the email only to deliver it.
Analytics
Visits are counted with quietstats, cookie-free analytics that I build and run. It stores nothing on your device (no cookies, no local storage) and doesn't store your IP address: the server uses the IP address and browser only in memory, to make a hash with a salt that changes daily and is deleted after a day. Country comes from the network edge, not an IP lookup. Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control are respected.
Local time and weather
The card on the homepage shows the time and weather for your approximate area. The site's server reads an approximate location for your connection from Cloudflare, rounds it to about 11 km and asks Open-Meteo for the current conditions. Your IP address isn't sent to Open-Meteo, and the location isn't stored or logged by this site.
Hosting
leej.uk is hosted on Cloudflare. Like any web host, Cloudflare processes technical data such as your IP address and browser details to deliver pages and protect the site from abuse. See Cloudflare's privacy policy.
Your device
If you switch between the light and dark theme, your choice is saved in your browser's local storage (as leej-theme) so the site remembers it. It never leaves your device and you can clear it at any time in your browser settings.
If you email me
If you email hello@leej.uk, I use your name, address and message only to reply, and delete the conversation when it's no longer needed. The lawful basis is taking steps at your request (Article 6(1)(b) UK GDPR) or my legitimate interest in answering enquiries (Article 6(1)(f)). I don't use it for marketing and I don't share it, except where the law requires.
Your rights
Under the UK General Data Protection Regulation and the Data Protection Act 2018 you have the right to access, correct, erase, restrict or object to the processing of your personal data, and the right to data portability. Email hello@leej.uk and I'll respond within one month. No automated decisions or profiling take place.
Children
This site isn't aimed at children under 13 and I don't knowingly collect their data.
Other sites
Links to other sites, including my own projects and the App Store, are covered by those sites' own policies.
Complaints
If you're unhappy with how I've handled your data, please email me first. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office: ico.org.uk, 0303 123 1113.
