CheckValue

Each scheme follows the provider's documentation: Stripe signs timestamp.body with HMAC-SHA256 (hex, v1); GitHub signs the body (sha256=hex); Slack signs v0:timestamp:body; Shopify signs the body (base64); Standard Webhooks signs id.timestamp.body with the base64 key after whsec_; Paddle signs ts:body; Twilio signs the URL plus sorted form fields with HMAC-SHA1. The samples use made-up keys. Your secret never leaves this page.

01

What it does

Recomputes webhook HMAC signatures for common providers' documented schemes with WebCrypto, compares them and checks the timestamp.

  • Stripe, GitHub, Slack, Shopify, Standard Webhooks (Svix, Resend, Clerk), Paddle Billing and Twilio
  • Generic HMAC-SHA1, SHA-256 and SHA-512 of the body, in hex or base64
  • Timestamp tolerance checked against now or a time you choose
  • Shows the exact message that was signed

02

Private by design

Everything happens in your browser. Nothing you type, paste or upload is sent anywhere, and it keeps working offline once the page has loaded.

03

What you get

A valid or invalid verdict with expected and received signatures, with a Copy and a Download button on every result.

Why it matters

When a webhook signature check fails, the usual causes are a body that was parsed and re-serialised before hashing, the wrong secret (test versus live), a missing timestamp in the signed string, or hex where the provider used base64. The error message just says "invalid signature".

This verifier rebuilds the signed message exactly as each provider documents it, computes the HMAC with your browser's WebCrypto, and shows the expected and received signatures side by side along with the timestamp's age. Every built-in sample was signed by a separate Python implementation, so the maths is checked both ways.

How to use it

  1. Choose the provider.
  2. Paste the request headers and the raw body.
  3. Paste the signing secret.
  4. Read the verdict and compare the signatures.

FAQ

Why does my signature never match?

Most often the body was changed before hashing, for example parsed as JSON and serialised again. Hash the raw bytes exactly as received.

What is the timestamp tolerance for?

It stops replay attacks: a captured request can't be resent later. Stripe's libraries default to 5 minutes.

Is my secret sent anywhere?

No. The HMAC is computed in your browser with WebCrypto.

Which providers use Standard Webhooks?

Svix and the services built on it, including Resend and Clerk, use webhook-id, webhook-timestamp and webhook-signature headers.
