What it is

evalu8.co.uk, which runs under the name ToolsForTrade, reviews AI tools from the point of view of a UK small business. Every review answers the questions an owner actually has: what does it cost in pounds, is VAT added, where is my data stored, will it train its AI on my data, and how much time could it save me?

There are 117 reviews, plus category pages, guides for particular trades, head-to-head comparisons and a few tools that help you choose.

Who it's for

Sole traders, tradespeople and small business owners in the UK who aren't technical and don't have time to compare a dozen American pricing pages. The ease-of-use score is weighted towards non-technical owners for that reason.

What it does

  • 117 tool reviewsScore, cheapest plan, price and an approximate pound figure, VAT, data location, AI training and sources.
  • Tool finderAnswer three questions about your trade, budget and data needs and get your top three tools.
  • Side-by-side comparePut up to three tools in one table, with a link you can share.
  • Cost calculatorTick tools to see the monthly cost with and without VAT against the value of the time saved.
  • Trade guidesTips and recommended tools for nine trades, plus 12 category pages and five guides.
  • ChangelogEvery correction and price change, dated, newest first.

Why I built it

I wanted to help UK owners pick AI tools that genuinely save time, without wading through American pricing pages and vague privacy promises. Prices in dollars with tax added at checkout, and privacy pages that never quite say where your data goes, make a simple choice hard.

So every review is built from the provider's own pricing, privacy and help pages, lists its sources with the date they were checked, and says "not stated" when something couldn't be confirmed, instead of guessing. There are no affiliate links, and no provider pays to be reviewed or ranked.

How it's built

It's about 170 hand-built static HTML pages on SiteGround, with no CMS and no server code. The interactive parts (search, the finder, side-by-side compare and the calculator) are plain JavaScript with no libraries, and all run in your browser from a shared data file generated from the reviews themselves.

Scores out of 10 follow fixed weights: value for a UK small business, including VAT and free plans (30%), time it can save (30%), data protection (20%) and ease of use (20%). Non-sterling prices are converted at a stated rate and shown as approximate. Pages carry structured data, and every correction is logged with its date on the changelog.

Where it is now

Live. 95 reviews were checked on 11 October 2026 and 22 more were added on 12 October 2026. Prices change often, so the changelog and the "last checked" dates are kept up to date with every review round.
